Square allows a user to accept payment cards on any device with an audio input jack, including your mobile phone. The company also provides an added layer of buyer authentication by showing the merchant a photo of the buyer. The company provides the credit card reader free of charge and monetizes the product by charging between 2.75% and 3.5% plus 15 cents per transaction.
