Presenter Invitations Sent Out

By SocialMatchbox Editor | Apr 14, 2010

Presenter invitations for the upcoming April 29th Social Matchbox startup launch event were just sent out.  If your startup was one of the 65 that was nominated over the past few weeks and months please check your inbox.

If your startup was nominated, but not selected for one of the coveted 10 presenter slots please don’t give up on getting your shot at presenting.  Startups are only allowed to present once and we have seen a lot of startups who tried to get into the presenter lineup previously, but were rejected, but who came back and made the cut this time around at at other events.

Some of the most common reasons for rejections this time around included companies that didn’t look like companies yet (i.e. they were just an app), companies that were more like content pages (i.e. they looked like they were just blogs), and products that were a reflection of consulting companies rather than stand alone companies.  This is one of the most frequent reasons why companies have been rejected as presenters in the past.  If you don’t take the time create a distinction between your freelancing, consulting or hobbies then you are probably not going to make the cut.  We look for startups that are launching, not startups that are projects that could launch in a few years if the stars align.

With that said, be sure to join us and check out the presenter lineup.  We have some very impressive startups that will be launching this time around.
