
For several years now we have maintained two different websites for startup related events and jobs, but in 2010 the two will be united under the Social Matchbox website and brand. The two were merged for a variety of reasons, but the most important reason for the merger is the fact that it will better help startups and emerging technology companies and members of our growing community to find what they are looking for. Keeping with this objective, we are keeping the cost of posting a job for startups and hiring teams at $FREE. To keep some variety in the mix we will be charging $30 for third parties posting jobs for their clients. Third parties include staffing agencies and independent recruiters who are engaged in fee for placement staffing.
The websites are not the only thing changing. You will notice the addition of two 100% opt-in newsletters. The first will will carry news about special events including the Social Matchbox Launch event, invitation only mixers, and special events. The second will carry news about job opportunities, job related events, and special offers related to jobs.
To get the latest details on upcoming events, sign up for Social Matchbox updates or follow @SocialMatchbox (events) or @jobmatchbox (jobs). Existing groups on Facebook, LinkedIn, and elsewhere have been updated as well (events vs. jobs).
You may also notice a few changes to the content on Social Matchbox this year. In addition to the usual mix of event notices that are posted here you will start seeing startup community news, tips and even some guest articles.
